Summer at Zwakala: Cold Beer, Good Music and That Cheerio Road Breeze
There’s something about summer at Zwakala that you can’t quite explain until you’re here. It’s the mix of warm Limpopo sunshine, the smell of great food drifting from the kitchen, dogs trotting around like they own the place, and that soft Cheerio Road breeze that somehow cools everything down at just the right moment.
This festive season, we’re keeping things easy, joyful and full of Come Closer energy. Long afternoons, good company, kids jolling in the natural playground, and music that makes the whole mountain feel alive.
We’re open every day from 11 December to 12 January.
Closed only on 25 December.
And yes, open on 1 January.
And the big news… we’re open on 26 December for the first time ever.
30 November: DJ John kicks off the summer
If you know, you know. DJ John brings the rhythm that tells everyone “holiday mode starts now.” The vibe is always warm, loose, and festive , adults chatting over cold beers while kids get wonderfully lost between the trees and the maze. It’s one of those afternoons where time slows down in the best way.
16 December: Live Band for the public holiday
Public holiday, live music, good food, cold draughts, kids living their best lives… it’s the kind of day that makes you grateful to be in Limpopo in December. Bring your dogs, bring your kids, bring your people. The more, the merrier.
1 January: Bubbles and Bass
New Year’s Day at Zwakala is the gentle reset we all need. You arrive a bit faded from the night before, the breeze hits, someone hands you bubbles, and suddenly the world feels manageable again. Bubbles and Bass is chilled, playful and a beautiful way to start the year, surrounded by mountains, music and community. Keep an eye out for an weather updates!
